A new addition to the latest British cinema renaissance that has brought us Lady Macbeth and God's Own Country, filmmaker Daniel Kokotajlo's carefully observed debut Apostasy is the story of a young woman's rebellion, as she starts to question the choices her mother has made with consequences that rip through their family and their strict community.
Jehovah's Witnesses Alex, Luisa, and their mother are united in their devotion. But as Luisa starts to question the advice of the elders, she makes a transgression that leaves the whole family in fear of God's wrath.
